IT Business Analyst

As an integral part of the IT Team and reporting to the VP, New Technology Development, the Business Analyst will work with business partners to identify practical solutions through existing or new business systems technology. S/he will be responsible for project management including planning and monitoring, project scheduling and resource allocation. Online Editorial Intern

We're looking for an in-house editorial intern to work with the online editors for CooksIllustrated.com, CooksCountry.com, and AmericasTestKitchen.com on several projects, including developing content for an upcoming website revision. Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus, as is an interest in cooking. The editorial intern may also have the opportunity to work with the managing editor, test cooks, and editors on individual projects. Interns must be able to work 2 days a week for a minimum of 3 months.

Kitchen Intern (3-month duration, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9AM to 5PM)

The test kitchen intern will be responsible for production within a designated publication: Cook's Illustrated magazine, Cook's Country magazine, or cookbooks. The intern will rotate to a new publication every 6 weeks, allowing them to work with 2 teams during their 3-month internship. Interns will work daily with test cooks and associate editors in researching recipes, preparing mise en place, and performing cooking tests. An intern may also help out during photo shoots by making recipes, prepping ingredients, and gathering equipment. The intern may also help with evaluations of kitchen equipment. Other responsibilities include assisting the kitchen assistants with putting groceries away, washing dishes (a couple hours per week), maintaining and calibrating equipment, helping to maintain our in-house library, and making trips to our local grocery store when necessary. Research projects are also available. The projects are designed to simulate the work of a test cook through research and experiments.

This is an unpaid (but rewarding) opportunity to work in the test kitchen of a special organization. You will gain hands-on experience and make a positive contribution to a fascinating organization.

Test Cook

TEST COOK
Responsible for developing recipes and writing articles for magazines or books, Test Cooks develop material under the direction of Editorial Staff. Test Cooks must be able to adapt the test kitchen style of recipe development to a variety of topics under tight deadlines, while maintaining the quality of recipe development the company is known for.

ASSISTANT TEST COOK

Responsible for assisting Test Cooks in recipe research, recipe development, and for providing support for kitchen team efforts including prep work. The opportunity for recipe development and writing supports career progression to Test Cook.

Library Volunteer (5 hours per week)

A wonderful opportunity to gain experience in all facets of small special library management (well suited for use as independent LIS course material). This position is open to current students or recent graduates of an accredited LIS program. Candidates with related library experience but not part of an LIS degree granting program will be considered.

This is an unpaid (but rewarding) opportunity to work as the librarian in a small special organization. You will gain hands on experience with the organization and management of a small special library, work with a wonderful (and growing) culinary collection, and make a positive contribution to a fascinating organization.

• Process new items into the Test Kitchen Library collection.
• Cataloging/Data entry to the Online Private Access Catalogue (OPAC).

Production and Imaging Specialist


As an integral part of the Production Team, reporting to the Production Director, responsibilities will be evenly divided between Production and Imaging:

On the Production side, this position works independently and is responsible for the creation and quality assurance of all print-ready files generated for magazine publication, Marketing materials, and other ancillary printed materials on schedule.

On the Imaging side, the P&I Specialist flexibly supports the Color and Imaging Specialist in the performance of his responsibilities for all publications, thereby expanding the overall internal Imaging capacity of ATK.

 

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF POSITION:



• Create and inspect print-ready PDF files from native InDesign files.
• Output Contract Proofs and relay to Traffic Manager.
• Transfer PDF files to vendor through FTP or other Internet based protocol.

• Collation/assembly of archived files for Best Of Direct Marketing issues and Special Edition issues.

Customer Service Representative


As a member of a three-person team, the Customer Service Representative will assist our valued customers with web memberships for three fee-based websites, two magazines, and our online bookstore. He/she will be responsible for responding to customer inquiries and providing resolution.

Kitchen Assistant/Shopper (Part time—20 hours/week)

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to assist in a busy test kitchen environment. This position is a Sunday through Thursday position with a work schedule from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM (there is flexibility with the exact hours on Sunday); the employee needs to provide his/her own automobile (position is eligible for mileage reimbursement) and have a valid driver's license.

The Kitchen Assistant will shop for items needed in the test kitchen in support of 30 Test Cooks. This will include weekly trips to wholesale clubs as well as daily trips to supermarkets and specialty purveyors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Shop for groceries and help maintain shopping list. Unload groceries and put them away.
• Maintain and organize kitchen foods.
• Stock and organize food storage areas (pantry, walk-in, etc.)
• Inventory of food items.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must have car capable of transporting large loads of groceries.
• Must have a cell phone to facilitate communication during work hours when off site.
• Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) on a regular basis.
